Mary Mae Gardens is a brand-new flower farm nestled on a small patch of Silverthorn Farm, a hobby farm established in Fairview, PA in 1837. Located on a gravel drive across from the small barn that’s home to the farm’s goats, Cowboy and Clyde, the gardens will feature waves of sunflowers, lilies, snapdragons, ranunculus, zinnia, dahlias, and so much more. At the gardens, we’ll create gorgeous seasonal bouquets that can be purchased at our farm stands and through our subscription service. We’ll also host build-your-own bouquet parties for intimate gatherings of friends and family.
The Gardens are owned and operated by Jordan Cirillo and Emily Chivers Yochim, who met in the construction industry and quickly discovered a mutual love of gardening. Jordan and Emily are dedicated to cultivating a joyful space that nurtures both land and community. Flowers are grown with regenerative and organic farming techniques, and we pay close attention to the health of our soil and consider it to be a living partner on the farm. We minimize tillage, amend generously with rich compost, and allow our plants to naturally decay and return their nutrients to the soil. We plant with pollinators in mind, surrounding the garden with native wildflowers and avoiding toxic pesticides. And we cultivate cover crops to amend the soil throughout the year. Our aim is to enrich the farm as we live and garden in it.
Mary Mae Gardens is named after Emily’s mother, Mary Josephine, and grandmother, Mary Agnes, and Jordan’s great grandmother, Elva Mae, all of whom shared their love of gardening with their families. We’re committed to honoring their legacies by creating a beautiful and generous space that highlights the simple joys of life outside. Our gardens and bouquets will be buzzing with life, and time at the farm will fill our guests with a sense of peace and connection. We can’t wait to share the gardens with you!
